Good Interventions is an annual exhibition of intangible design projects that brings together design and the social sciences to address pressing issues of our time. For its fifth edition, fifteen projects will be selected for exhibition. The program is organized by the School of Design Strategies at the Parsons School of Design at the New School, and the digital exhibition will be hosted within the Platform of Design Strategies.
Social sciences often think through concepts. Design often thinks through making. What becomes possible when these ways of thinking come together? Good Interventions invites projects that use design interventions to understand and describe existing conditions, while reimagining what could be otherwise across social, cultural, political, economic, or environmental contexts.
The 2026 edition builds on Good Interventions ’22, ’23, ’24, and ’25, which supported projects opening doors to new ways of thinking on an exhausted planet. Past winning projects have ranged from a dance choreography performing the everyday life of a platform economy worker to feminist speculative approaches to money-making; from metaverse financial space-making to attention deficit economies; from taqueria banking systems to macramé-based accounting, and more.
Fifteen selected projects for Good Interventions ’26 will be exhibited and will receive a certificate with project teams invited to attend the exhibition opening and awards ceremony in October 2026.
What’s an intangible design project?
An intangible design project might take the form of an economic device, financial network, barter platform, film, song, poem, multimedia work, strategic design intervention, or even a new type of money. It might look strange, weird, or wrong. That is okay. We value all such forms of inquiry. To see examples, we invite you to explore the winning projects from Good Interventions ’25.
How do I apply?
Submissions for Good Interventions ’26 are accepted through June 30th, 2026 at 5:00 pm EDT. To apply, applicants must complete the submission form and provide the required materials:
(1) a project presentation (PDF) outlining the project’s context and intervention
(2) a video presentation (maximum 3 minutes) introducing the project, its intervention, and how it functions.
Detailed instructions are included in the form. Submissions may be from individuals or groups. Selected projects will be supported by a member of the curatorial team to further develop and finalize the work for exhibition.
